Team SERVPRO Arrives Equipped to Dry Out Your Water Damaged Business Quickly

For a Rochester business, any disaster can mean twice the loss. There is the damage to the building that needs repair and the inventory that needs cleaning or preserving to sell it. There is also the loss of sales income each day that the doors are closed to customers.

SERVPRO knows that Rochester commercial water damage does not have to destroy a business to shut it down. Many businesses operate on close margins and need to be open every day to ensure they can pay the rent, utilities, and their employees when the first of the month rolls around again. We do everything we can to remove water and reopen doors as quickly as possible.

In a small business like a convenience store, most of the goods are non-perishable. That is unless a broken sink sprays water across the backroom and shuts down a refrigerator case. Then, we have a very short amount of time to dry it out and return it to service.

Usually, we concentrate on drying the floors first, but this is a very unusual situation. The owner can stock the items in another case temporarily, but overstocking eventually lowers the temperature and results in more spoiled products. Even if the store can partially reopen, there is the nuisance factor, since customers who run in for a cold soda do not want to take it home to chill it. In this circumstance, SERVPRO technicians start immediately to dry out the case once we stop the source of the leak and remove any water from the floor with pumps and water extractors.

As long the water did not short out the motor, we can restore function within an hour or two by directing an air mover to force warm, dry air under the case and into the motor compartment. Once we finish with the air movers, a technician uses drying cloths to remove the last trace of moisture around the motor. As he or she takes care of this emergency task, the rest of the response team uses more air movers to completely dry the floor and dehumidifiers to lower the interior humidity.

Even when reopening to customers may take a day or two, many businesses still need a response of only hours or minutes to preserve their inventory. If you need our help, SERVPRO of Dover-Rochester maintains an on-call 24-hour response team to take of whatever the need may be. Call (603) 743-4301 today to learn more.
